The role of Darius Slay within the Steelers’ defense remains in flux, and due to injury, will likely continue to be so. With Joey Porter Jr. dealing with a hip injury, he could be forced to start regardless. This past Sunday’s game, however, showed that his position is vulnerable.
Although he had to clear the concussion protocol, which affected his week of work, Darius Slay began the last game on the bench. James Pierre started in his place, and he didn’t really even play until after Porter’s injury. While he didn’t play his worst game, Pierre has clearly outperformed him.
