Mike Tomlin has often said that he and the Pittsburgh Steelers do not live in their fears. However, that isn’t often reflected in Tomlin’s decision making. He tends to be conservative in certain situations, such as on fourth down. There plenty of examples of the Steelers facing 4th-and-short scenarios where many teams would try to pick up a first down. Tomlin usually opts to punt, though.
That’s gotten him some flak from fans, but in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins, Tomlin was much more aggressive. The Steelers went for it on three fourth downs, including one on their own 28-yard line.
