Steelers notebook: Officials told to be diligent about assistant coaches coming onto field

NFL officials have been on campus the past two days at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe instructing Steelers players and coaches about 2016 rules changes and points of emphasis for the upcoming season. There are several rules changes that were made for player safety, including elimination of all chops blocks. But officials are curious to see how one new point of emphasis is handled.

It’s the so-called Joey Porter rule that was put in place to get assistant coaches off the field. Porter, the Steelers outside linebackers coach, came onto the field when Antonio Brown was concussed in the playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
