The Steelers successfully imposed their will against the Lions on Sunday in Detroit in the trenches, perhaps especially on offense. While the defense held a top-five rushing attack to 15 yards, Pittsburgh’s own ground success was impressive, and potentially momentous. If they can build on that, it would give them a solid foundation for a postseason run.
All told, the Steelers rushed for 230 yards, and on just 27 carries. It’s the most they’ve rushed for in a game this season by nearly 50 yards, and the most overall in nearly a decade. The last time they rushed for more was against the Buffalo Bills in 2016, going for 240 yards, 236 by Le’Veon Bell.
