The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t make a ton of news this trade deadline, deciding against any major additions. However, they did make two smaller, low-risk signings. The first was to sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad where he remains. The second was signing Asante Samuel Jr.
Samuel also hasn’t made his Steelers debut yet. But according to insider Gerry Dulac, that may have been the plan all along as he continues to try and get into football shape.
“I will tell you that when they signed him, they knew he was weeks away from playing because he hadn’t played in so long and they wanted to make sure,” Dulac said Monday on 102.
