Steelers' first kickoff was only special teams blight in win against Chiefs

Rather than a liability, the Steelers special teams turned out to be the most important unit Sunday.

After Chris Boswell’s first kickoff, that is.

Boswell kicked off to the Chiefs 20 after his first field goal. Kansas City’s dangerous kick returner, Tyreek Hill, did not receive the ball, but Demetrius Harris ran it back to the 45, giving the Chiefs prime field position and setting them up for an early touchdown.

Safety Robert Golden described the Steelers’ efforts on the kickoff as “a miscommunication.”

“We looked past that and we moved on to the next kick,” he said.
