The Athletic’s Dane Brugler released his first mock draft of the 2026 NFL Draft cycle, and with the 14th overall pick, Brugler has the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting Alabama QB Ty Simpson.
“Another offseason in which the Steelers will find themselves at a quarterback crossroads …Even if his inexperience is an understandable concern, Simpson processes quickly, negotiates pressure and gives his receivers chances to make plays. It wouldn’t be surprising if he returns to Tuscaloosa, but there will be several interested teams in the top half of Round 1 if he declares,” Brugler wrote.
Simpson has had a breakout season in his first year as Alabama’s starter and is considered by many to be a first-round pick if he chooses to declare for the draft.
