CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A game delayed 21 minutes at the start by a thunderstorm, attended sparsely by starters in either uniform and, well, hard to watch by all, the Steelers and the Carolina Panthers unceremoniously brought down the curtain on another way-too-long preseason.
And for that, everyone can be grateful.
Carolina won 18-6, dropping the Steelers’ record to 1-3 this preseason and 3-14 in their past 17 exhibition games over four years. It is not a record they need to be ashamed of.
It was the 14th consecutive year the two teams ended the preseason against each other in the most meaningless of them all.
