Steelers DE Stephon Tuitt gets five-year, $61 million extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed defensive end Stephon Tuitt to a five-year extension worth $61 million, it was announced Saturday.

The Steelers -- who don't negotiate during the season -- are the only NFL team with two defensive ends playing on $50-plus million contracts. Cam Heyward signed a six-year, $59 million extension prior to the 2015 season.

Tuitt is a versatile end who plays inside or out, base or nickel, teaming with Heyward as interchangeable parts. He has 11.5 sacks over 32 career starts spanning three seasons, and he gets consistent pressure.
