Steelers create $13 million in salary cap room — with Le'Veon Bell in mind?

The Steelers are feverishly reworking contracts to create salary cap room as if they need it to sign someone to a major deal.

Like Le’Veon Bell.

The team created $13.25 million in cap space by restructuring the contracts of guard David DeCastro and defensive end Stephon Tuitt, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Each player had his 2018 salary reduced to their veteran minimum of $790,000 and that and a roster bonus were converted into a signing bonus for both in order to spread out the salary cap over the remainder of their contracts. Each will receive the same amount of money this season they were supposed to receive before their contracts were redone.
