Steelers' Anthony Chickillo cleared by NFL in alleged domestic incident

PITTSBURGH -- The NFL has cleared Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo and closed its investigation into an alleged domestic disturbance incident in October involving him and his girlfriend, a league source confirmed to ESPN.

Chickillo was cleared because of insufficient evidence and will not face any punishment, the source said.

The Athletic first reported the case closure Friday night.

Chickillo, 26, was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors stemming from an Oct. 20 incident at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. He was subsequently placed on the commissioner's exempt list.

All charges, though, were withdrawn less than two weeks later when Chickillo and his girlfriend, who was cited for harassment in the incident, decided they didn't want to pursue the charges.
