PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their saving spree Friday, releasing veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson in a move that trims $10 million against the salary cap, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.

Coupled with the earlier release Friday of cornerback Patrick Peterson, the Steelers created nearly $17 million in additional cap space prior to the start of free agency next week.

The Steelers acquired Robinson in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in April 2023, swapping seventh-round picks in addition to picking up the veteran.
