Sons of Mike Tomlin, Joey Porter ruled eligible to play WPIAL football

The son of Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, and the son and nephew of Steelers assistant Joey Porter can play high school football next season. The WPIAL says so.

The WPIAL board of directors ruled Tuesday that Michael Tomlin is eligible to play at Shady Side Academy for the 2017 season, while Joey Porter Jr. and Amosis Porter are eligible to play at North Allegheny. The league had eligibility hearings with Tomlin and the Porters to determine if they transferred from Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic in January for athletic reasons, which is against WPIAL and PIAA rules.
