The Pittsburgh Steelers felt like they upgraded at cornerback this offseason by signing Darius Slay and trading for Jalen Ramsey. While they’ve both been great corners before the Steelers’ plans didn’t translate into reality. Ramsey plays safety now, and the Steelers waived Slay earlier this week. That came after he was a healthy scratch for their game against the Buffalo Bills. Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin spoke Thursday about the Steelers parting ways with Slay.
“I really like Slay, but it just didn’t work out,” Austin told reporters via Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Twitter.
