Rooney: Nobody On Steelers’ Staff Will Be Head Coach Candidate

As the Pittsburgh Steelers begin their head coaching search, the franchise enters a new era. It’s been a long time since the Rooney family has had to find a new head coach, and it’s certainly going to be an unfamiliar process. But as the search begins, Art Rooney II is starting to narrow some things down. Speaking on Wednesday, he essentially ruled out any current coach on the staff becoming the head coach in Mike Tomlin’s absence.

“Right now, I don’t think that anybody on our staff is a candidate. Maybe a candidate to stay on the staff, depending on what the new head coach wants to do.
