The Pittsburgh Steelers have a long history of physicality. However, that brand of football looks a little different today than it did in the past. Gone are the days when players like Hines Ward, Ryan Clark, and James Harrison were dealing out punishing blows on the regular. That’s not the Steelers’ fault, though. The NFL changed the rules in an effort to make the game safer. However, the Steelers might’ve been targeted a little more harshly as a result of that crack down, at least according to Harrison.
“When we was all getting fined in 2009, when they started that player initiative thing, that safety thing, they said it was a safety thing, we were playing a game, and early in the game, we had got fouls called that wasn’t fouls,” Harrison said Tuesday on his Deebo and Joe podcast.
