Practice report: 'Some difficult decisions' ahead for Penguins at forward

CRANBERRY, Pa. -- As the Penguins wrap up the last few days of training camp before the regular season begins on Oct. 12 in Tampa, Fla., there are a number of position battles still up in the air, in particular at forward.

With Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin both out to start the season, the most common combinations for the first three lines that we've seen throughout camp would have to be these:

Jake Guentzel - Jeff Carter - Bryan Rust
Jason Zucker - Evan Rodrigues - Kasperi Kapanen
Zach Aston-Reese Teddy Blueger - Brock McGinn

Beyond that, it's up in the air as far as the bottom-six, or who moves into the top-nine if Jake Guentzel and Zach Aston-Reese are unable to play in the opener after contracting COVID-19 during camp.
