Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Needs: Safety is not a solidified position

The Steelers signed former Packers safety Morgan Burnett in free agency to solidify a position that was a problem in 2017.

Heading into the season Burnett and 2016 second round pick Sean Davis are the projected starters on the back end. Burnett is expected to be an upgrade over Mike Mitchell who was released prior to free agency.

The Steelers currently have six safeties on the roster. In addition to Davis and Burnett, Nat Berhe, Jordan Dangerfield, Malik Golden, and J.J. Wilcox are all under contract. There has also been talk of cornerback Cameron Sutton playing free safety.
