Penguins can't rebound from disastrous second period, suffer first regulation loss

EDMONTON, Alberta -- The end of the second period could not have come soon enough for the Penguins here in Edmonton on Monday night.

The Penguins had to have been pretty happy with their start, heading to the locker room at first intermission with a 2-1 lead off of goals from Rickard Rakell and Sidney Crosby and a sizable 19-9 lead in shots.

It's not an overstatement to say that what followed was one of the worst periods in the history of the franchise. The Penguins weren't able to recover from such a monumental swing in momentum, and left Edmonton with a 6-3 loss -- their first regulation loss of the new season.
