Paul Zeise: Leagues are still worried about sports gambling. Why?

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can legalize sports betting by a 6-3 vote. The court determined that a 1992 federal law prohibiting sports betting in most states was unconstitutional.

"The legalization of sports gambling requires an important policy choice, but the choice is not ours to make," Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the 6-3 opinion. "Congress can regulate sports gambling directly, but if it elects not to do so, each state is free to act on its own."

My first thoughts was “it’s about time.” It is and always has been ridiculous that the federal government allowed only one state, Nevada, to take legal bets on individual games.
