While Broderick Jones admitted being back on the left side is a “boost”, Steelers OL coach Pat Meyer contested the idea it’s his “natural” position. Pittsburgh readily acknowledged it drafted him to play left tackle, even though he played right tackle the past two years. He didn’t always look comfortable there—but he also wasn’t healthy a year ago.
Meyer has coached Jones since the Steelers drafted him. As a rookie, he spent most of his offseason training at left tackle. After failing to earn the starting job, though, he eventually resurfaced at right tackle.
