Down a pair of key defenders in T.J. Watt and Nick Herbig, without the services of left guard Isaac Seumalo, and going into a hostile environment against one of the best offenses in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a statement in a major way Sunday, even if they needed a wild final play to beat the Detroit Lions.
Prior to that final play, the Steelers largely were in control for much of the game, especially in the second half as the run game came alive, and the short-handed defense put the clamps on Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and an explosive Detroit offense.
