On the Steelers: Coaches looking for more from young outside linebackers

NEW ORLEANS — Linebackers Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree are supposed to leave the field less often this year. Trouble is, they have not been able to get on the field.

Dupree, the Steelers’ first-round draft pick last year, has not practiced much and still will not play in the third preseason game at 8 tonight against the New Orleans Saints.

Jones, the Steelers’ first-round draft pick in 2013, should make his 2016 debut at right outside linebacker. He practiced the past week for the first time in a while.

The franchise invested plenty into the pair, each a starter on the outside last season, although Dupree had to wait until later in the year; he started five games and two more in the playoffs.
