Coming into Sunday’s Week 17 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns, much of the focus appeared to be on Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett and his pursuit of the NFL’s single-season sack record.
Garrett was one sack away from breaking the record, currently held by Steelers OLB T.J. Watt and Hall of Famer Michael Strahan. He remains one sack away after Cleveland’s 13-6 win over Pittsburgh after the Steelers kept him off the stat sheet for the second game this season.
Yet, despite having the same exact plan for Garrett as they did in a Week 6 blowout win in Pittsburgh, all the talk coming out of the Steelers’ loss to the Browns —with some help from Garrett — is that Pittsburgh was too preoccupied with keeping Garrett from getting the sacks record rather than trying to win the football game.
