National Media Begin Making Their Pitch For Mike Tomlin To Join Them

For years, the national media have wondered if Mike Tomlin would become one of their own. Still one of the most popular and quotable coaches in football, speculation is increasing over the idea of Tomlin exiting coaching to enter broadcasting. Even if that speculation is, naturally, a media creation. And their motives should be in question.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager is the latest to basically make an open pitch to Tomlin.

“Having worked at the TV game for quite some bit, there’s a chair waiting,” Schrager said Wednesday on ESPN’s First Take. “Whether in the booth or in one of those wonderful, weather-controlled sets for Mike Tomlin to make a lot of money talking football if he so wishes.
