Morehouse steps down as Penguins president, CEO

David Morehouse has stepped down as president and CEO of the Penguins.

President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke and COO/general counsel Kevin Acklin will assume Morehouse's duties, per an announcement by the team.

Morehouse could not immediately be reached for comment and there was no immediate word on when a permanent replacement will be named.

His departure is not expected to have any short-term impact on the team's on-ice product.

Morehouse, who joined the organization in 2004 as a consultant on the project to construct a replacement for Mellon Arena, has had a number of health-related issues during his tenure as an executive, but there was no mention of those in the press release announcing his departure.
