In Mike Tomlin’s first public comments after news broke Tuesday afternoon that he would resign as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coach, Tomlin offered gratitude to the city and franchise he called home and worked for the last 19 years.
Tomlin issues the following statement as he departs the franchise.
“After much thought and reflection, I have decided to step down as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“This organization has been a huge part of my life for many years, and it has been an absolute honor to lead this team,” his statement in part read.
