In the week leading up to the matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, the expectation was that second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson would have a bigger opportunity offensively, giving him a chance to make an impact without the services of DK Metcalf.
Then, Wilson played just nine snaps on a day in which the Steelers scored just six points in a loss.
It was pretty puzzling, especially seeing the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Scotty Miller playing 54 and 42 snaps.
For head coach Mike Tomlin, who spoke to reporters Tuesday, he tried to explain the lack of playing time for Wilson after hyping him up in the buildup to the Browns matchup.
