It wasn’t easy, but the Pittsburgh Steelers won four of their last five regular-season games, with the final victory clinching them a playoff berth. And after the unit struggled early in the year, one common theme during the recent stretch has been improved defensive play. Especially at linebacker, including Nick Herbig, Alex Highsmith, and T.J. Watt when he’s been healthy.
It’s safe to say the Steelers have plenty of depth at outside linebacker. In Watt and Highsmith, Pittsburgh has two proven veterans, while Herbig and Jack Sawyer provide youth at the position. Herbig brings a bit of versatility as well, something Mike Tomlin talked about Tuesday during his weekly press conference.
