The Pittsburgh Steelers did not make a deal for a wide receiver Tuesday before the trade deadline passed. However, they still added at that position, signing veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad. The Steelers were reportedly interested in adding Valdes-Scantling before the season started, but he signed with the San Francisco 49ers instead. He revealed why he made that decision after his first practice with the Steelers.
“It was between here and the 49ers,” Valdes-Scantling said Wednesday via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s YouTube channel. “I ended up choosing the 49ers because it was the same system that I was running with Klint [Kubiak] in Seattle.
