The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a big piece of their offensive line Monday when Marcus Gilbert was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s PED policy, and after the news broke Gilbert took to social media to release a statement.
“I apologize to my teammates, coaches and the entire Steelers family. Regretfully I inadvertently took a banned substance. I promise to come back in great shape, and will be ready to play when my suspension is over.”
Gilbert claiming to “inadvertently” taken a banned substance is surprising, to say the least, considering the amount of people and literature available to players as to what can, and can’t, be taken by league standards.
