Aaron Rodgers’ primary mission was to be the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback. But he didn’t ignore aiding those who could make up the team’s future. Though many narratives painted Rodgers as a me-first player unwilling to help anyone else, Rodgers has served as rookie QB Will Howard’s mentor all season—a point Rodgers emphasized Wednesday.

“I’ve made a point of really trying to help Will [Howard] because I love him,” Rodgers told reporters via a team-issued transcript. “He’s a great kid. I think he’s got a bright future, and it’s one relationship I really wanted to pour into.”

Rodgers knows what it’s like to be in Howard’s shoes.
