Loss Of Fullback Results In More Multiple Tight End Sets

The Pittsburgh Steelers ran from run-heavy looks with surprising frequency during the Wildcard game despite being short-handed at the running back position. 22 of 74 offensive snaps came with multiple tight ends on the field, with eight of those plays involving three tight ends on the field.

Curiously, rookie tight end Jesse James was actually the recipient of the majority of the two-tight end set snaps with Heath Miller. James played 16 snaps during the game, with half of them coming from a 12 look, typically in an even strength look with one tight end set to either side.
