On the final play in Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made a heads-up play. After making a catch near the goal line, he lateralled the ball to quarterback Jared Goff before going down for an apparent touchdown.
But amid all the confusion after St. Brown was stopped just short of the end zone, he was called for offensive pass interference, negating the play and giving the Steelers a 29-24 win.
It was clearly offensive pass interference, a penalty that St. Brown accepted afterward, even if it cost his team the game.
