The Pittsburgh Steelers traded for S Kyle Dugger last Tuesday. But Dugger did not have much time to practice before Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. So, it was reasonable to expect him to see a few snaps with S DeShon Elliott on injured reserve.
But then a slew of injuries and illnesses hit the safety room. Dugger’s former New England Patriots teammate, Jabrill Peppers, was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Chuck Clark got sick and missed the game. Suddenly, the Steelers needed Dugger for a bigger role. A much bigger role. Head coach Mike Tomlin thought Dugger could do it.
