On the surface, the two-game suspension handed down by the NFL to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf after an altercation with a Detroit Lions fan in Week 16 seems like a major blow to the Black and Gold, especially late in the season.
The Steelers, pending Metcalf’s appeal, will be without their leading receiver and tone setter offensively for two games. There were already questions about the depth chart at receiver behind Metcalf before the suspension, and now those questions grow louder as the Steelers won’t have their top weapon in the passing game.
With two games left in the season, both in AFC North play, and with a chance to clinch the division in the next two weeks, the loss of Metcalf seems very detrimental to the Steelers.
