Kicker Chris Boswell's record game helps Steelers overcome offensive woes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — These 18-16 playoff games starring the kicker are pretty exciting for the Steelers. For the second consecutive season, the Steelers won a playoff game by the same score, and Chris Boswell — the kicker they pulled off the street in October 2015 — was the clutch performer.

Boswell booted an NFL record six field goals to account for every point the Steelers scored in their AFC divisional-round playoff victory against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Ice water didn’t come from Winter Storm Jupiter — there was barely any precipitation at all during the game — but it was flowing aplenty inside the veins of the Steelers’ second-year kicker.
