Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Maybe news of Ben Roethlisberger wanting to play several more years would have surfaced even if Todd Haley had stuck around.
I can’t help but wonder, though, if Ben suddenly dropping all the retirement talk might have something do to with Haley — The Tequila Cowboy — riding off into the sunset. Or at least off to Cleveland, with a swift nudge from the Steelers.
The Haley dismissal might not have been fair, but who said pro sports are fair? Sometimes you have to appease your superstar.
