The Pittsburgh Steelers went into the 2025 season with good depth at the outside linebacker position. Obviously, the headliners at the position are T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. But Nick Herbig has certainly proved to be a playmaker in his limited snaps so far in his career. And rookie Jack Sawyer has showed potential, too.
But entering Monday night’s game versus the Miami Dolphins, the depth was tested. T.J. Watt could not play as he recovered from a pneumothorax. That put Nick Herbig into the starting lineup. And then Herbig suffered a hamstring injury, leaving his availability for next Sunday’s game versus the Detroit Lions in limbo.
