‘It’s Gonna Take Awhile:’ Fittipaldo Paints Uncertain Picture About Broderick Jones’ Neck Injury, Future

While we don’t know the exact nature of Broderick Jones’ neck injury, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac reported that he underwent surgery. Neck and back injuries are notoriously tricky for athletes especially ones who bash heads against 300-pound defensive linemen 60 times per game. As a result, P-G’s Ray Fittipaldo is worried about Jones’ future.

“Broderick’s situation with that neck injury, them having to decide if they’re gonna pick up the option by May, you may not know. I mean, it’s unfortunate, but they had a situation with Ryan Watts last year, Ryan Watts had neck surgery and six months later in training camp, I think, they announced that he had to retire,” Fittipaldo said Friday via 93.
