‘It’s Definitely About The Money’: Whaley Weighs In On Slay Likely Starting Over Pierre

The NFL is supposed to be a meritocracy, where even an undrafted free agent on a league-minimum salary can supplant an underperforming former All-Pro. It seemed like the Pittsburgh Steelers were on track to have that happen with James Pierre playing lights out with the struggling Darius Slay out injured. Mike Tomlin seems to have other plans.

Former NFL GM Doug Whaley gave his take on the matter.

“It’s definitely about the money,” Whaley said Wednesday via 93.7 The Fan’s Morning Show. “The interesting thing when you listen [to Tomlin], he did say he will play.
