He went on a tour of NFL facilities in the last week or so, checking in with the likes of the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers. But there was one team that ultimately appealed to veteran cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.
The Pittsburgh Steelers.
Samuel, who was medically cleared at the beginning of November to resume football activities after having spinal-fusion surgery in April, signed with the Steelers’ practice squad Tuesday, bringing him to the Steel City with an opportunity to work his way into game shape and become a valuable contributor defensively.
