This weekend, Derrick Harmon is headed home. Although he’ll be surrounded by friends and family, Harmon’s goal will be to defeat his hometown team. As soon as he received the call that the Pittsburgh Steelers were making him their first-round pick, Harmon flipped the switch from Lions to Steelers fan.

“From Detroit, so I had to be,” Harmon told reporters via the Post-Gazette of growing up a Lions fan. “But I’m a Steelers boy, now.”

Born and raised in Detroit, he intentionally stayed local and committed to Michigan State. This was in part due to his loyalty to the area and partly to be close to his mother.
