The viral video of a priest blessing the end zone before the Steelers’ Week 18 game felt almost too good to be true. But as Jay Glazer explained on NFL on FOX, the practice is far more common in Pittsburgh than most fans realize.
“Everybody wants to know about the priest putting the holy water on the field before the game thing, and he put the whammy on the Ravens’ kicker. That’s not the case, folks. I’m sorry to really burst your bubble here. They actually do it every time they re-sod the field. That’s the third time I think they’ve done it this year, and they’ve done it all the way back since 2001,” Glazer said.
