Amidst the Pittsburgh Steelers’ numerous struggles defensively, Teryl Austin is finding himself under the microscope. Leading a defense that is underperforming to an extreme level compared to its preseason expectations, Austin’s been criticized for the scheme and lack of adjustments.
However, former NFL scout John Middlekauff doesn’t think Austin is the problem. Instead, he believes the Steelers just don’t have a lot of talent on that side of the ball.
“I do think your secondary talent is pretty overrated. I’ve watched them now, healthy or not healthy, have similar results… Back in the day your talent was pretty high end,” Middlekauff said Tuesday on his 3 And Out podcast.
