The move to make second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson a healthy scratch against the Baltimore Ravens on the road in Week 14 was a shock by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wilson was coming on strong and was starting to see more snaps and develop more chemistry with 42-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But after the Steelers claimed 35-year-old wide receiver Adam Thielen on waivers last week and elevated wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling off of the practice squad, it became a numbers game.
Wilson was the odd man out, though the explanation from head coach Mike Tomlin felt a bit bogus.
