Where has Pat Freiermuth gone? That’s the question many Steelers fans have been wondering this season. Freiermuth’s usage has fallen off a cliff this season, as the Steelers have leaned more on Darnell Washington and Jonnu Smith, just one year after giving Freiermuth a four-year, $48 million extension. Through 12 games, Freiermuth has just 26 receptions for 298 yards, and 111 of those yards came in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. With Freiermuth relegated to being a backup, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette believes that either Freiermuth or Arthur Smith will have to go this season because the two aren’t co-existing.
