Former Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette argued the team should trade T.J. Watt throughout the offseason rather than extend him. Twelve games into a season in which he has seven sacks, he’s probably feeling pretty good. While he did not bring up the fact that he called for the trade, he did call the extension a mistake.
“They should have let T.J. [Watt] come in on his last year of his contract and see what he does. If he does great and you want to try and extend him, good. If he doesn’t want it and you still want him, franchise him.
