‘Didn’t Snap The Best Ball:’ Christian Kuntz Takes ‘Full Blame’ For Missed Field Goal Against Lions

The Pittsburgh Steelers should’ve taken an eight-point lead over the Detroit Lions with 2:09 left in the game last Sunday, but an extremely rare missed field goal by Chris Boswell kept Pittsburgh’s lead at 29-24. After Boswell’s miss, it became clear that the culprit was Christian Kuntz, whose low snap threw off the process on the doinked 37-yard field goal.

“I didn’t snap the best ball. It happens,” the veteran long snapper said on The Christian Kuntz podcast. “I take full blame for that because you can’t expect your kicker…when you have to trust the process and it has to happen under two seconds and you’re stepping and swinging, a low snap like that forces him to slow down his approach.
