Dick LeBeau: 'I've always been really a Bengal and Brown guy at heart'

Dick LeBeau is synonymous with the Steelers.

His two stints as the team’s defensive coordinator — first from 1995-96, then 2004-14 — accounted for four Super Bowl appearances, including two victories in 2005 and 2008. His units were consistently dominant, drawing comparisons to the “Steel Curtain” groups that led the Steelers to four Super Bowl victories in the 1970s.

He was an esteemed member of the team off the field, too. LeBeau, who will turn 80 in September, was affectionately referred to as “Coach Dad” by players who cherished their personal relationships with him, and his annual reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas” was a celebrated team tradition in his years here.
